1. What inspired you to start Dandylion?

Carolyn: The inspiration for Dandylion came from my Cockapoo, Mocha. She’s 13 years old and has always struggled with incredibly itchy skin issues. I tried everything—vet visits, diet changes—but nothing gave her relief from the constant itching and scratching. My background is in the beauty industry, where I’ve helped launch better-for-you beauty brands, and it made me question the products I was using on Mocha. I was shocked to discover that many dog care products are full of harsh ingredients that can make skin problems worse. That’s when I knew I had to create something better—Dandylion, a brand that prioritizes skin health for dogs like Mocha.

2. What makes Dandylion different from other dog care brands?

Carolyn: What sets Dandylion apart is that we focus on a skin-health-first approach. We use only gentle, functional ingredients and avoid anything that could irritate sensitive skin, like sulfates, drying alcohols, artificial fragrances, dyes, and even essential oils. I was also surprised to learn that the dog care industry is largely unregulated, meaning there’s no requirement for ingredient transparency. That’s why we’re fully transparent about every ingredient we use. Dandylion is a brand dog parents can trust to take the best care of their dogs’ skin.

3. How did you develop Dandylion’s products?

Carolyn: I didn’t create Dandylion’s products alone—it was a real collaboration. I worked with input from hundreds of dog parents, like yourself, as well as experts like vet dermatologists, groomers, and human skincare chemists. Together, we crafted products that are gentle and safe for dogs with the most sensitive skin. Every product is formulated with functional ingredients that support skin health, and we’ve completely eliminated any potentially irritating ingredients.
