We are passionate about giving back to animals because our pets give us so much. That’s why supporting organizations, hospitals, and rescues is a cornerstone of our business. We love all our amazing partners, but there will always be a special place in our hearts for the Schwarzman Animal Medical Center (AMC).
Our sweet co-founder, Tate, was treated for lymphoma at AMC in 2023. While he sadly lost his battle, the care he received from AMC doctors and staff inspired Taylor to be a lifelong advocate for the center. So naturally, our first Tate & Taylor exclusive launch supports AMC with a portion of proceeds going to the Buddy Fund, a resource for families who need financial assistance with cancer treatments for their furry friends.
AMC is truly a special place. And we’re not just saying that because they took amazing care of our Tate. From space to staff, AMC is the pinnacle of quality animal healthcare. We’re so humbled by their work and proud to partner with them for our F*ck Cancer collection.
The Staff
The folks who work at AMC understand that cancer treatment is a tough thing for anyone to deal with, so they go out of their way to ensure pets and families are taken care of medically, but also emotionally. We think Tate’s oncologist, Dr. Rachel, said it best:
“We want to make sure that the pet is very comfortable with us, the family is comfortable with us because we know that unfortunately, they do have this cancer diagnosis. But we're doing the best that we can to enrich the time that they have left with their families – that's most important to us. So in that time, we tried to make their visit very enjoyable, be it toys, treats, or lots of TLC. And for the people who are caring for these pets, we like to exude positive energy and exude hope because we know our pets are so in tune with us, and they pick up on those things.”
The Space
When you think of the oncology ward of an animal hospital, you probably aren’t imagining bright and cheery. But that’s exactly what AMC is. There are toys, treats, sunlight, plants – it feels homey. It’s clear that they designed the space to make their patients and pet parents feel comfortable. Afterall, a happy, upbeat environment can do a lot to help all of us feel better.
The Hope
We think it’s really telling that during one of the most tumultuous times in Taylor’s life, she took solace in the care Tate received at AMC. It could have been a dark memory, but instead what she takes away is hope. She tells Dr. Rachel:
“There was a sense of hope when I came here. When I came, every time I left, I would spiral. I would be like, ‘He's alone, he's sick. Is he going to make it through the night?’ All these things. I would come here and it would immediately break that. It's light, it's positive. I have an amazing doctor who's caring for him. I see him there. He's still wagging his tail. He was still energetic, he was still happy. And I felt, okay, I know it's not his time. We're going to figure this out. We're going to get him better. He's going to be there. He's coming home with me.”
And he did go home with Taylor. He was able to send her off at her wedding in Colorado thanks to the team at AMC.
